This summer escape the heat and take part in a SYN Websmarts workshop

Websmarts workshops are for 12-18 year olds and will teach you how to produce your own short digital media piece about how you use the web, with prizes for the most creative pieces.

Websmarts workshops are FREE and will be held in locations around the city throughout January

Signal Summer Workshops

Signal is a new arts space for young people, right in the heart of the city, behind Flinders Street Station towards Sandridge
Bridge, Northbank.
SYN will be running a series of digital media workshops at Signal from January 13 – January 22.
If you would like to learn more about podcasting, video production, radio plays or promoting your digital media online – book in now! Places are limited.

Summer Podcasting Workshop

Make an audio piece for podcast, including recording, editing and publishing. We’ll workshop content ideas and create the whole thing: from scripting, planning, recording and editing to publication on the SYN website. (one-day workshop)
Cost: $10
Running: Wednesday January 13, 10:00 – 4:00 pm
Wednesday January 20, 10:00 – 4:00 pm

Summer Video Basics

Create a visual story with SYN’s video creation experts. We’ll cover basic shooting techniques, capturing your video and editing it to make an amazing piece of your very own. The pieces will be podcast on the SYN website and screened on the Signal screen. (two-day workshop)
Cost: $10
Running: Thursday & Friday, 14 & 15 January 10:00 – 3:30

Radio Play Workshop w Josh Earl

Create and record a short radio play to air on SYN radio and web. Josh Earl, local comedian and expert in the art of imaginative soundscapes and stories, will facilitate this session along with a SYN trainer. (one-day workshop)
Cost: $10
Running: Thursday, 21 January 10:00 – 3:30

Promote your Digital Media Piece online

Learn how build your own great looking WordPress blog to host your digital media pieces. Find out how you can promote them through SYN.org.au and social networking sites.
Cost: $10
Running: Friday, 22 January 10:00 – 3:30

Radio Tours at SYN

Just about every week day, students from across Victoria visit SYN for Radio Tours. The tour is 1.5 hours and goes over the essential components of producing and presenting a radio program with the opportunity for hands on experience in our production studio.

During the tour they see a youth media organisation in action, and the chance to create their own radio program with the help of experienced young people.
